Folks, have we got a hot, and rumbling fireworks display in your forecast for Independence Day! The rune Fehu, speaks of wealth… mobile, community-oriented, and most certainly a time when we can see the fruits of our hard work blossom right before our eyes.

Runes, as we covered a few articles ago, is an alphabet originating in Scandinavia; made up of 24 runes (these symbols can be carved out of any durable material such as wood, crystal and many other creative materials), which then became more of a diving tool back in the times of Odin; most recently, the 1970s.

Runes are cast in a variety of ways, if they are made of stone. Typically, they are rolled around in a velvet, or sacred pouch of some kind, and then tossed on a flat surface. The ones that fall upright are read from left to right. Their positions in which they fall: Merkstave (reversed) or right side up, are of special importance.

Fortunately for all of us, I used a deck of cards (as the stones break on me) and Fehu was pulled upright – a good sign. This 4th of July, we can expect to work together in harmony; not only will we succeed on a personal level we will strike a harmonious balance within our community.

We will not only celebrate the birthdate of our national Independence, but we will celebrate the small things… like RMSAAM’s 11th Anniversary for example! We will celebrate important news ranging from engagements, births, new jobs, and anniversaries of all kinds… not to mention actual birthdays for so many individuals out there.

So folks, take Fehu’s good sign into serious consideration: Appreciate what you have worked so hard to gain, and know that also, fate has a terrible sense of humor – she can take it all away in the blink of an eye. So stay humble, but be proud, and celebrate your independence and successes!

RMSAAM wishes you a safe and happy Independence Day!
